Who are we?

Putney Youth Choir is a 40 strong group of young singers. Currently our youngest member is 5 and our oldest member is 13, but we’re happy for anyone to join us up to the age of 16. We work on our singing technique, learn about music theory, play games and work towards concerts and performances. Members have been accepted to the GB National Youth Choir, Royal Opera House Children’s Chorus, Sylvia Young School, and both Westminster School and St Paul’s School as choristers.

The choir is led by Rhiannon Llewellyn, who has worked as a singer for Glyndebourne, the Royal Opera House, English National Opera and Scottish Opera and sung as a soloist and choir member and most of the UK’s biggest venues.

What do we sing?

We sing music from different cultures and faiths, show tunes, classical music and lots more. We’ve currently working on a Sound of Music medley, ‘For Good’ from the musical Wicked and ‘When you believe’ from the Prince of Egypt. We are currently working towards a concert performance of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.

When do we rehearse?

Rehearsals are during term time on Mondays at St Margaret’s, Putney Park Lane, SW15 5HU.

What does it cost?

  • Children eligible for pupil premium are able to attend choir for FREE!

  • Standard memberhship £5 per week, and purchases a choir uniform (provided at cost) which is £32.50.

  • We are planning a three night residential choir tour in October, which is an optional. Currently, this stands to be around £350 per child (inclusive of transport, accommodation and meals) but we are looking to fundraise and minimise this cost and provide bursary places for as many children as possible.
